Importing OpenVPN cause web interface service to fail

Auxilium

New Around Here
If I upload OpenVPN settings via "Import .ovpn file", interface would show loading animation, though in browser logs it can be seen that all requests after that encounter 403 response.

After that, navigating to any page would require to authenticate anew.

Opening system logs would have following records:
Aug 16 15:07:59 watchdog: restart httpd
Aug 16 15:07:59 rc_service: watchdog 476:notify_rc start_httpd
Aug 16 15:07:59 RT-AC87U: start httpd
Also "OpenVPN Client" settings would be missing client certificate and key, username and password.

Interesting though that I was able to use this option once before.

Router: Asus RT-AC87U
Version: 378.55_0

Without the missing keys and certificates, OpenVPN won't work and you won't be able to connect, of course, which is what you're seeing.
When I've had this - missing keys/certs - when the router runs the Openvpn server, a restore to factory default of the router fixes it; the Openvpn keys and certs get generated from scratch and a new .ovpn client file then is exported to the client devices. And, as I say,it fixes it in that the keys/certs are no longer missing. Now you are importing the .ovpn file into the router, which is running as an OpenVPN client, so somehow I can't believe a restore to factory default of the router would be of any use. (Sorry, I don't understand it all well enough.). So I'm surmising you should not merely re-import the same .ovpn file into the router again but start from scratch by regenerating the .ovpn file again (however one does that) and then re-import it. (I assume you've turned up nothing helpful with Google on the subject.)

Sorry for forgetting the important peace of information.
This is OpenVPN Client only problem.
I can set it manually just fine with all certificates/keys and settings,
but for some reason when trying to import settings, router web server just crashes.

Double-check that the jffs is setup and working as the OpenVpn settings are now stored under /jffs/openvpn/

I have "WARNING: you have JFFS enabled" under "Firmware upgrade" section, though under "System", "Enable JFFS custom scripts and configs" is set to "No".
Manual OpenVPN client settings do persist through reboot, but everything is erased when trying to import .ovpn
