Include VPS in ASUS RT66U Router based VPN

Zaphodb

New Around Here
I have set up openvpn acrt66u merlin VPN at my home which works brilliantly with TAP, for LAN and WAN (android, mobile connected laptops etc) for my family and business needs. This has a dedicated IP and good bandwidth available as it is a fttc connection. We also have a ubuntu kvm vps which I would like to connect to the vpn, so that email, data, file xfers etc are secured.
I am assuming that it would be best to utilise the functionality of the asus merlin router (as server) and the VPS as a connecting client, and also that a TAP site to site type connection would be best.
I would appreciate if I am thinking along the right lines for such a set up, or if I would be better off using the VPS as the openvpn server.
One last question. My current vpn has a dedicated IP. Would I be better off making this dynamic from a security viewpoint?
Thanks in advance.
