New Around Here
I have a trusty old Linksys WRT54GL running DD-WRT. I wish to get a 100% reliable connection to my good friend across the hall in my apartment complex. He used to connect just fine but we've been having issues and network analyzer app shows all the 2.4ghz channels to be badly congested. 5ghz on the other hand is wide open.

Basically I want a cheap reliable way to switch to 5ghz. I don't know if I need a new router, an access point, and extender etc.

But if someone can recommend some products that are inexpensive and will get the job done I'd greatly appreciate it.
