INSTALLING MERLIN

Quick question I'm familiar with downloading and installing Merlin from https://sourceforge.net/projects/asuswrt-merlin/files/ just download zip and unzip...

But on there the router that I want it's not listed I was told to go here https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng/releases I've attached a screenshot are those the files needed to update firmware

Asus Rog Gaming Routers vs Asus Gaming Routers

So my understanding Asus Rog Routers have extra features for gaming but do this features do anything to being connected by Ethernet or just wifi? If the extra features on a Asus Gaming Rog router doesn't affect Ethernet connection I'll just get a Asus none Rog Gaming Router

If you ended up getting the RT-AXE7800 (I linked the thread from earlier), I do not believe this router has Asuswrt-Merlin support at all (Including Gnuton's builds). I do not see the RT-AXE7800 on the supported devices list for Gnuton's fork.

I don't know where that list came from, but it makes no sense to me. For instance it lists various Qualcomm-based devices that will never be supported by Asuswrt-Merlin, as it only supports Broadcom-based devices.

Freaking sucks then I really wanted to get this router RT-AXE7800 after filtering what I'm looking for on Asus website its the only router that shows up it has WiFi 6e 2.4ghz 5ghz and 6ghz

The modern version of your old RT-AC5300 is GT-AX11000 Pro. If you want 6GHz band in mid-2024 look at Wi-Fi 7 models.

FYI it helps if you include the router model that you are talking about when you mention the router you want is not listed.

it is getting very confusing with all the new models, and the pricing is not always an indicator of performance quality . Had a friend buy the AXE7800 had him return it and buy another model . Good luck
