Hi guys!

Please help: did a clean reset of AX86u some time ago, Instant Guard were not working, just a timeout. While openvpn can connect and works like a charm.
Is there a way to fully reset instant guard or else to keep current configuration but to fix instant guard?
I suppose there are some broken entries in nvram. Can you help with proper commands? Don't want to talk to Asus support at all, all support as always recommends to reset your gadget!

Also looks like its a common issue, maybe there is a FAQ where this steps can be placed to save time?

Answering myself: the root cause is built-in Asus DDNS provider. Once it's changed to anything else (eg. no-ip) the Instant Guard back to normal.

Asus, shame on you!

Asus DDNS does seem to go wonky from time to time. I had the same problem working with the AX86U beta yesterday and ended up doing factory reset which did not help. Switched to No-IP which is free for a basic account.
Give the beta firmware a try! Works very well.

Hi mate!

The issue is to old. At least I already changerld routers numerous times. Right now I'm using ET12.
As per DDNS I sue the following:
ISP with public IP
NAS with installed Portainer
AWS account with bought domain
A docker container from crazymax/ddns-route53 with proper configuration: scheduled update of AWS Route 53 DNS.

Now I don't care flicky Asus DDNS, I have all made on my own and stable more that rock!

No-ip still works well for me with Instant Guard, OpenVPN or Wireguard.
I do enable host name verification as my ISP has a 30 minute DHCP renewal time.
