I know the new iPad support Wi-Fi 6e and it can run 160mhz on the new 6ghz channel. But can it run 160mhz on its 5ghz channel. I am asking because if it does, it can have logically more speed without upgrading to a wifi6 router.

I don’t think it does HT160 on 5Ghz. They’re pretty conservative/practical in that regard. Just like HT20 on 2.4 GHz.

AFAIK, Apple does not support 160 MHz bandwidth in 5 GHz. It doesn't support 40 MHz bandwidth in 2.4 GHz, either.

The official scoop is here. 160MHz only on 6GHz, it says.

only on ipad pro 2022 where 160MHz is supported, and there, only on 6e mode, 5 Ghz is 80MHz, and of course, 2.4 is 20MHz

ax@6 GHz

Supported on the following models:

  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro (6th generation)
  • 11-inch iPad Pro (4th generation)
