I recently purchased a Asus RT-AX86U Pro to upgrade my RT-AC68U.
I have been running my 1 PVR wired directly to my router and my 2 STBs in two separate rooms wired to switches that are shared with TV, game console, media player, receiver etc. I only have one Cat6 run to each location and therefore am unable to have a dedicated Ethernet cable for either STB.
Regardless, with this setup IPTV has been functioning perfectly for the last 5 years with only the following additional router settings under LAN-IPTV:
Use DHCP routes: Microsoft
Enable multicast routing: Enable
Enable efficient multicast forwarding (IGMP Snooping)
However, with the new RT-AX86U Pro I have been unable to get the IPTV working properly. The TV shows stop after about 10 seconds or so.
I have spent numerous days trying to find a resolution to this problem. I have made numerous router changes in hopes to get it working again. So far I have only been successful with a dedicated line from STB to router and using the router setting to choose the IPTV STB Port.
It appears that this has been an issue with Asus routers for years, but I have not found a solid solution. With my limited knowledge I can only surmise that the problem is related to the lack of the setting to Enable efficient multicast forwarding (IGMP Snooping) which does not seem to be available other than under Wireless Professional tab though with the STB setup via WiFi the freezing still occurs.
I have tried using Merlin Firmware:3004.388.8_4, Stock Firmware: 3.0.0.6.102_34349 and 3.0.0.6.102_34336
The IPTV provider is Telus and located in Canada
Any help would be appreciated.
