I've got my N66U set up for IPv6 using the tunnel provided by my ISP (charter). Everything appears to work fine in that regard.

However, when I look at my Windows workstation, it shows that my IPv6 DNS addresses (OpenDNS) are set before the IPv4. This would be fine, except, that my machine will not resolve any internal hosts since it is defaulting to an external DNS.

Essentially, is there any way to tell my IPv6 machines to use the router for DNS and letting it act as a forwarder.

Note: I am running the latest Merlin Build.

Anyone know how I can have my internal hosts resolved by the router's DNS server. I have several entries in a dnsmasq.conf.add file that simply will not resolve on my IPV6 workstations (it appears they only search the IPv6 DNS servers defined).

I managed to make local name resolution work by putting my router's IPv6 LAN IP as the first DNS server on the IPv6 configuration page.

So now it will resolve the local hosts names as defined in my dnsmasq.conf.add file, however it appears to only provide their IPv4 addressess, and only for hosts I define manually.

I would expect there to be some mechinism built in so that hosts would register their addresses with the DNS server... I'll keep digging but it's sure not as great an experience as I'd hoped for.

Perhaps it's time to try Tomato?

The DNS (dnsmasq) implementation on the router needs a few changes that would greatly improve robustness and functionality for LAN clients.

Here is what I found when testing:

(1) If WAN link is down dnsmasq does not work
(2) DNS registrations from clients w/static ip's are not processed by dnsmasq

Merlin has indicated that he will look into dnsmasq implementation so hang in there a bit :)
