IPv6 ICMP Inbound issue

  • SNBForums Code of Conduct

SNBForums is a community for everyone, no matter what their level of experience.

Please be tolerant and patient of others, especially newcomers. We are all here to share and learn!

The rules are simple: Be patient, be nice, be helpful or be gone!

as long as you ran successful ping on this last test using your ipv6 address and had no packet loss then you are fine, that site uses its own Ping test from its own host address and if it's host site is down or if it has to wait to long to ping you, then it simply gives up and says you fail that test and gives you a lower score.

Sorry for being so thick but are you saying you want me to run a ping to my IPv6 address via http://www.ipv6now.com.au/pingme.php if so I did that and it isn't successful.

try doing it from this site https://tools.keycdn.com/ipv6-ping using your ipv6 address. this site uses more than one host to try to ping you.

Yep that worked perfectly with no loss. Also I just went back to https://ipv6-test.com/ did a hard refresh of the page and it sent back a 20/20 result as below so I would say it is their site and is working as intended.

Thank you so much for your patience and all your help it is very much appreciated.

Cheers

Hello at all,

Old thread I know but I had the same issue and I figured it out. That may be useful for others .

When using the "pingme" tool (http://ipv6now.com.au/pingme.php) with the IPV6 address shown on ipv6-test.com, it says that my host is unreachable (100% loss). It took me some time to understand that it was my temporary IP address (which is perfectly normal).
When using pingme on my secured IP, it pings just fine.

Not sure at this stage whether this is meant to be so but I will keep digging.

Thanks
