Is Cisco slowly retiring the Linksys brand name?

I guess that means I've not paid attention... when I go to Fry's, I guess I didn't notice that "Linksys" is gone from the packaging.

It isn't. The logo is gone, but Linksys is now part of the product name. It's a product line, not a company.
 
used to be (still is?) that Linksys was a wholly owned subsidiary rather than part of mother Cisco as are/were AeroNet and AirEspace.

Linksys was assimilated long ago....
