Is it true that LinkStation Live USB ports are really slow as you don't get full USB speed ?

I've been offered a HS-DH320GL LinkStation Live cheap and i was going to buy it for a cheap newsgroup download box with NZBget but i've been told that downloading the files are fine but trying to transfer the files off the Linkstation is really slow both via Network send and a external USB HDD plugged into the linkstation is not much faster ?

thanks

Can somebody with a LinkStation Live transfer a file via the USB socket and let me know the speed. ?

Thanks

I don't have one to try. But if the external drive is formatted NTFS, chances are it will be very slow. FAT32 drive format will probably be faster, but will limit maximum file size.

Somebody on another forum done a 4GB transfer for me yesterday and it took 6.5 Minutes to complete so not blazing fast but not as slow as i was led to believe as i was concerned by other comments it would take 30mins.

6.5 Minutes i can live with :)

By my calculation, that's around 10-11 MB/s. Not too bad.

Now this is not so good.

"I have a linkstation live and a 2tb usb drive attached to it. Its not a Buffalo usb drive but the speeds should be the same. It is taking about 16 minutes to transfer over about a 5gb file on my system.Hope this helps."
