Is there a connection watchdog "Keep Alive" (like in DD-WRT)

Curious if there is a way to have a connection watchdog (called "Keep Alive" in DD-WRT), so that it pings a server (ie, Google.com) every x seconds/minutes, and if it does not detect any connection, it will either reset its connection to the modem (WAN), or if that doesn't work, reboot itself (the entire router).

This was useful during power outages, to still be able to access my servers via a remote tool (if set to Power On, on AC power loss in the BIOS/UEFI).

Without it, the connection got foobar-ed typically. I don't know how this router works in an event of sudden power loss and then back on (I guess I could run some tests and see), but this feature would be nice to have for completeness, if it doesn't already exist (I couldn't find it though).

Did you ever find something to do this for the ac66u? I'd really like something to cycle the power or wan during outage too

My Merlin clients (AC66u and 68u) already recover pretty much automagically after a WAN failure. Have you guys tested the behavior of your routers if you unplug the WAN modem for a few seconds, and then restart the modem? My routers seem to re-assert themselves and heal the connection on their own without prompting.

Am suspecting there is some other behavior that you are looking for that am not understanding.
