Is there a way to get the rmerlin scripts working with .sh at the end?

I use smb often at home (where it is fast enough) to edit my /jffs/scripts. Using windows it is a bit of pain opening them because they don't have a "file type". Is there a way we can get rmerlin scripts t0 work with .sh at the end (pre-mount.sh firewall-start.sh etc)? I am guessing this is a ridiculous idea for some reason so I apologize for my ignorance in advance. ;)

Yes it is ridiculous :) (just joking).

If you have installed a Unix compatible editor like Notepad++ you can just right-click on the file and "Edit with Notepad++".

I am so sick of that though! Right? My solution is to just make the rmerlin scripts shortcuts to scripts with .sh added. Now I can edit the .sh scripts without all the right-clicking. Yay me? :cool:

What is your preferred editor? (full path to the executable)

I'll gen up a .reg file for you that will make anything with no extension default to be opened by that editor

Err, OK. It doesn't seem like such a hardship though. One right-click and one left-click as apposed to a double left-click.

I can understand the inconvenience of the usual: double left-click, click Open, scroll through list, double left-click again, click Open again.

@ColinTaylor - I was being a bit sarcastic. It is not such a hardship indeed. Losing a click here or there at the expense of ten times the work to accomplish said loss of click is how I roll.

@john9527 - wow, thanks!

C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\notepad++.exe

Oh, and P.S.- making the rmerlin scripts "shortcuts" to scripts with .sh at the end was a miserable fail. For those who run into this thread- do not do it.

Personally, telling Windows to stop hiding extensions is one of the first things I do with my systems. :)

I always thought it was a security nightmare anyway, as photo.exe might easily lead a user into double clicking on it if all he sees is "photo".

Just alter the scripts that don't have extensions so that they execute some of your own scripts that do.

This is what I meant when I said "My solution is to just make the rmerlin scripts shortcuts to scripts with .sh added (post 3)." That did not work right, I am guessing because some of the scripts are called early enough during boot that things get wonky (I warned people about my issue in post 6).

@RMerlin I must have file extensions unhidden in windows too! I wonder if they kept hidden file extensions for win 10. Sigh, microsoft.
