Issue with OpenVPN [380.65]

Syn

Occasional Visitor
Router: Asus RT-AC87R
VPN: Private Internet Access

If I try to upload OVPN file I get this error...

"Error 17 while importing file - invalid key and/or certificate!
Fix your config file, then import it again."

Then I copy and paste certificate and if I upload ovpn file again I get same message but after applying password and username settings then I can finally turn client ON.

now everything should be looking good, I apply setting, save certificate, client is on but I cannot connect to internet.

What am I doing wrong?

P.S - Start with WAN was ON, I switched it to off before taking screenshot just to test.

Edit your .ovpn file and remove the sections that point to an external file (i.e. the <ca> and <cert> blocks).

client
dev tun
proto udp
remote us-seattle.privateinternetaccess.com 1198
resolv-retry infinite
nobind
persist-key
persist-tun
cipher aes-128-cbc
auth sha1
tls-client
remote-cert-tls server
auth-user-pass
comp-lzo
verb 1
reneg-sec 0
crl-verify crl.rsa.2048.pem (remove?)
ca ca.rsa.2048.crt (remove?)
disable-occ

I'm assuming when (ca) gets removed I will have to manually input cert authority?

- Anything else?

Thank you.

Or: Make sure you download the VPN config files for Router or SmartPhone - this one you can import without problems.

Sorry a newbie here, where would I download VPN config files, from PIA website?

^ I uploaded OVPN, after deleting two recommended lines, pasted cert authority (did i miss .pem file paste?)

VPN client stays on, looks like I'm connected (from the pic above) but still can't get to a page. :(

No sure about PIA but my advise to my users is to use inline format when importing to Asus and if they on .65 then they need to make some changes that is specific to openvpn 2.4 only. And based on your ovpn which has 'disable-occ', you may not be able to see any compatibility errors if any, in the logfile.
