I’ve been using my ASUS N56U (Padavan firmware) as a wireless repeater, bridging 5GHz (AP client) with 2.4GHz (AP), and it worked.
Recently, I connected the router via Ethernet to the main router to set it up as a wired access point, but I’ve encountered problems:
wired clients connected to the LAN ports don’t receive any data from the router
Wireless clients work fine.
The LAN ports function as a basic switch without issue.
The speed negotiation on Ethernet (1Gbps / 100Mbs) works, but no packets seem to transmit from the router to wired clients.
Troubleshooting Done:
Flashed back to ASUS stock firmware: Problem persists.
Tried to use the ASUS firmware restoration tool, but I couldn’t establish a wired connection with the router (used IP 192.168.1.11 with the router in Rescue Mode - power led slowly flashing)
Checked logs: DHCP discover message received by the router from wired client, but DHCP offers are not received by clients.
Concluded the issue might be related to RGMII TX failure, as RX works fine.
Could this not be a hardware issue?
