Hi I have been running Merlin on an ac68u succesfully for a number of years with no real problems serving a primarily windows orientated network of 4 computers, a Synology server and 4 media items. Unfortunately recently I have experienced very poor network performance with connections hanging for considerable periods. I suspect this is due to the router which has not been 'factory reset' for a considerable period of time. The router is on the latest stable version of Merlin which was updated a few days ago, I have yet to do a factory reset followng this upgrade but intend to following resoluion of the points below.
In undertaking the factory reset I believe the nvram will be cleared which is where I am presuming the problems lie. Unfortunately this will, I suspect, result in the deletion of my current LetsEncypt certificate which is provided via Asuscomm.com. I have experienced significant problems in the past when such certificates have been amended and wonder if there is any preferred methodology for ensuring the certificates are not lost and how to re-install them on the router.
