Hi all,

Is there a way of setting a specific hostname to the router, so if I type it in to the address bar, it sends me to the default webpage (ie. 192.168.1.1)? Also, is it possible to change the timemachine hostname from its current designation of : RT-AC68U-6278 to a more user friendly name?

Yes. Go to LAN > LAN IP > Device Name

(Well, that's where it is in Merlin's firmware. Don't know about stock)

I set this up already, but it still wont work. Says page cannot be displayed, etc.

Also, timemachine just uses its own. Is there a conf file I can SSH into to edit? I cant find the timemachine directory.

If you're using Mac OSX then there might be a mismatch between the domain name your Mac is using and what is set (or not set) on the router.

If you are using a local domain (I think apple stuff uses .local) try going to LAN > DHCP Server > Basic Config > Router's Domain Name and putting local in there.

Sorry, I don't know anything about timemachine.
