New Around Here
Hi,
Looking for an older firmware for my RT-AC68U, FW_RT_AC68U_30043763626.trx

Did not see it on ASUS site. Where can I find it?

Asus removed all those old firmware versions from their website. That particular firmware is over 7 years old and contains numerous bugs and security vulnerabilities. Use the current stock firmware instead.

Tried newest FW version, but could not get AiMesh to work. The node is found, goes to about 51% slowly, then rapid to 100%, getting error message.

That old firmware version came out years before AiMesh existed so it wouldn't support it anyway.

Was hoping to get one to work as a node. Have a couple of ASUS Zeneifi AX6600 mesh units coming. Might not need the old routers

If I remember correctly AiMesh was introduced with the 384 code base. So you'd need at least that level of firmware. Since then they've released AiMesh 2.0 so you'd probably need to be using a 386 version to be compatible with your zenwifi units.

Also, note that older firmware will not work with newer hardware revisions That's why for instance the RT-AC68U cannot be downgraded beyond a certain minimal version, and forcing it to flash might result in a bricked device.

They removed the old firmware from the official website a few years ago, because they launched the improved RT-AC68U, the new 68U has a different CPU (BCM4709), and it is very dangerous to flash this version on a new model.

I have mirrored almost all RT-AC68U official firmware starting from 30043763626, I used to share them on mega, but with the introduction of new models, many people ignored the warning and flashed too low firmware to brick theirs router.

I can provide you with the firmware if you need it, but please make sure your RT-AC68U is A1 or B1 version, flash in other version and you will get a brick.

@Yota You're replying to a post from almost two months ago. If you read the replies you'll see that the firmware version he was asking for would not resolve his problem.
