Lots of strange behavior AC68U 2.4 Ghz Band

New Around Here
Hey all, I have read a number of the threads on 2.4 Ghz dropping and none of the fixes seem to help, hoping maybe I missed something I can try.

The AC68U is running Merlin which seemed to work pretty well for the first 6 months. I have a LOT of devices running on the 2.4 Ghz band including: Skybell doorbell, Nest (x2), Honeywell Lynx alarm, Philips Airplay and a couple of Xboxs (periodically).

I had it set to the defaults which I think were:

+ Bandwidth: 20/40
+ Channel: Auto
+ Firmware 374.43
+ WPA2-personal and AES.

This worked for about 6 months although I did have to periodically reboot it (once every 2 weeks or so) when devices would start to drop. There are only 2 other networks visible in my range on 2.4 Ghz (one on channel 6 and one on channel 1), I have no cordless phones.

Update: I just noticed my temperature appears to be consistently at 90 Degrees (C) not sure if this is too high or not. It has a lot of ventilation but is in a server closet with a lot of other heat generating items.

Lately it has been MUCH worse. Devices drop after only a couple of hours. Once this occurs I have tried to connect with my iPhone and get "unable to connect to network". I have been experimenting over the past couple of weeks with settings and have experienced some odd behavior (and as of today the router still drops everyone off the 2.4 Ghz band after a couple of hours).

Right now my settings are:

+ Bandwidth:20 Mhz
+ Channel 11
+ Firmware 376.45 (this didn't fix my issue) and as of this morning Firmware 376.47.

Can anyone help me with something else I should try? The 2.4 Ghz band is only used for managing devices so it doesn't need to be fast at all.

Thanks!

Some odd behavior I have noticed:

on 2.4 Ghz band my iPhone using Ookla speedtest gets an upload of 50 Mbps and download of close to the same, mere minutes later it slows to a trickle at 2 Mbps. During the 2mbps session in my testing I was experimenting with the channel setting and I noticed when clicked apply to change the channel the upload speed would temporarily spike up to 50Mbps and then go right back down to 2Mbps. Only solution to fix it was to reboot.

I tried setting the channel to "Auto" and this morning as a test I had my iPhone (6) "forget" the 2.4 Ghz network. When I tried to connect I kept getting "incorrect password". For some reason I had to set the channel to a defined number (in this case 11) and then the join and it would work. I know I typed in the same password in each case (its never changed on the router).

Have you done a complete reset to factory defaults with the new firmware?
