I am currently seeking advice regarding a low cost RAID controller. After searching through Newegg and TigerDirect, it seems that most, if not all, RAID controllers have highly mixed reviews. I am starting to think that looking for one of these is going to be like picking through a swamp for a decent card.
The current requirements are:
This RAID controller is for a new SOHO server. Seeing that it is not a dedicated NAS and used for media, streaming, gaming services, I will not be able to use FreeNAS/OpenFiler and the like.
Would any of you suggest a specific brand or articles/references that would help me with this?

- PCI Express x1
- 2 SATA ports internally
- Linux support (running Fedora 15 DE x64)
- Between $25-$75 USD hopefully
