Mac filtering by wireless band

DarrenNI

New Around Here
For some reason, my iPad Mini 2 has problems in certain rooms in our house when it switches between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, so I've been trying to force it to always use 5GHz.

I'm almost sure in a previous version of Merlin that it was possible to Mac Filter reject by band - I'm virtually certain I had my RT-AC66U set up to reject my iPad's MAC address on the 2.4GHz band so it would always be on 5GHz.

However, since upgrading to the latest version of Merlin, that option seems to have disappeared and I can only do overall MAC filtering. Or am I missing something really obvious?

No, you're not missing anything. The option for separate filter maclists by radio was removed by ASUS a while back (around the start of 378 code if I remember correctly). I'm guessing it had to do with the added complexity of 3 radios in the AC3200.

Or you could just tell the iPad to forget the 2.4ghz network. ;)
Or you use two different names for 2.4 and 5 GHz. Plus enable the Roaming assistant under the Professional tab and you should be fine...

With kind regards
Joe
