I was composing an extended reply to a private message and the web page refreshed to http :// www. inboxviewergo. com/big. html?gclid=CK6205K6jrwCFUtp7AoduCkA3Q (link broken to avoid potential nastiness).

I noticed that the ad on the right side of the screen while I was composing my message was for some "View private message" thing, which may be related.

Screenshot attached.

Reported here in case this is a malicious ad.

i had a extension seemingly spontaneously install itself into chrome, called 'videoservices' after a browser session that only consisted of here, gmail and dslreports, despite using a mvps' hosts file (not the most powerful way to filter adware/malware, i know); this was a couple days ago and i ended up removing it before thinking to record any identifying information about extension.

it presented itself when i opened a new browser to view the webui; first click took the page somewhere else, and each click after seemed to open a brand new page, like it was using onhover 'clickjacking'

it also added ads to the sides of the webui

Sorry for the problem, Terry. Could have been a poisoned Google ad. We get them from time to time.
Please PM me if the problem reappears.

I had problems also last week which I reported to Tim, but I blamed it on an Ad for HP. However earlier I had seen the private message ad and when I inadvertently clicked on it it tried to install something.

Based on your experience this may have been the root of my problem. I ended up having to restore my PC.

Ouch!
Sorry for the problem. I've banned inboxviewergo.com in Google ads. Hope that helps, but these spammers just move on to another domain.

Get your self adblock plus for your web browser.
In my case, I'm running a weird browser/OS environment and the bad guys are not going to get anywhere (as shown by my being able to go back to my previous page with everything as it was, including the same ad). I report this sort of stuff so that Tim will know about it in case it happens again, and so that others can beware.
