Maximum OpenVPN speeds on RT-AC87R

Hi
I noticed that i can't get more than ~15 mb/s in in download speeds when connected to my VPN provider via OpenVPN client in the RT-AC87R despite have regular speeds of 80/20 mbps. According to the VPN provider no router is capable of giving more than 10-20 mb/s OpenVPN speeds due to hardware limitations. Is this correct? Another option is to use the less secure IPSec method but the official fw doesn't support this....perhaps the Merlin's fw supports this? Unfortunately using each pc or device connected separately to OpenVPN or IPSec isn't really an option as i would like to connect to VPN at router level due to having > 3 devices in our home network (the VPN provider doesn't allow > 3 simultaneous connections from each IP)
Cheers

The speeds you get are primarily dependent on three variables, the distance you are from the VPN server, how robust the backbone connections your VPN provider has to the Internet and finally the computing power of your router.

That being said I think you should be able to get at least 40 Mbps with your router. If you can't then perhaps you need to look at another VPN provider.

I get almost full speed on my VPN connection 70 Mbps out of a 75 Mbps connection, but I off load the VPN processing to VPN accelerator with its own 1.8 Ghz processor and 4 Gigs of memory.
