Hello community,
im searching in the web since hours and i couldn't find the right explanation or guide for it.
I want to use my IPSec VPN Server on my RT-AC5300 router with latest merlin wrt firmware on it.
As i am out of it security since 15 years i was not aware that IKEv1 is described now everywhere "as unsecure" and everywhere just IKEv2 is recommended.
So in my IPSec configuration (GUI) i can't disable IKEv1, so the workaround would be just to allow IKEv2 connections / users. But the dropdown in the GUI just allows "IKEv1" or "IKEv1&IKEv2" users.
On asus faq they recommend to add users with just IKEv2 supported version.
So i am a bit confused why this isn't possible in the lastest merlinWRT, i just want to allow IKEv2 connections and fully disable IKEv1 support.
Thank you very much!
[EDIT: I see the faq is for another firmware / router models, that should be the answer. Anyway does anybody has an idea to implement the issue above in my model with a workaround or something?]
