Hi there,
Quite new to the world of more complex NAS drives, just been using a simple WD MyBook Live for the past few years as a media server but wanted to move to Plex from Kodi for transcoding purposes.
So I'm getting there but the biggest issue I have still is trying to transfer all my data from my old WD NAS to my new Synology DS218+. So the easiest way in my mind was to mount the WD folder in the DS218 so I could do a transfer without it going via my main PC. However I can only seem to Mount a folder from my PC (which took me a while to do given its such a simple job usually) but for the life of me I cannot mount any WD folder in the DS. Trying the CIFS protocol and everytime I get the pop up Failed to connect to the remote folder. Please make sure the remote folder is accessible via CIFS protocol.
Now I dont know how to check the WD is CIFS compatible but I certainly cant see why it wouldnt be if I can mount WD folders in my PC, SMB it to my Kodi on firesticks etc.
Anyone got any advice tips or help please?
Thanks,
Chris
