Hey. Couldn't find this reported anywhere so I figured I'd let you know.
I have an ASUS N66U router, and until recently I've been running Merlin 374.x firmware. Switched over to Merlin 378.54_2 the other day and followed the advice of doing a factory reset and completely rebuilding my settings in order to avoid problems. I only did the bare minimum of settings to get my network working again, with no "advanced" features like QoS, WiFi radio tweaks, VPNs etc.
However, since doing this, the router get severe performance issues and must be rebooted every morning as every night something happens that brings throughput down to nearly nothing; doing a bandwidth test after a fresh reset yields the expected 30Mbit/s down and 7 Mbit/s up from my VDSL connection, while each morning when my computers wake up, the router has gone crazy and yields worse-than-a-14K-modem speeds. It is not caused by my connection (which is handled by a separate VDSL modem) since it also affects internal communications between my computers (which is done only through the ASUS router), and a simple reboot of the ASUS router alleviates the issue for another day of use.
This issue did occur intermittently with 374.x firmware but that was maybe once a month or less; with 378.54_2 it happens predictably every night.
Can anyone offer advice on how to help diagnose this annoying issue so it can be fixed?
