Narrowed down AC-3200 2.4ghz failure? Router to AP mode?

Hello All,

Before sending back a second new AC-3200, I updated to the latest ASUS firmware (FW_RT_AC3200_300438250624) and ran through some basic configuration. I noticed something interesting - the 2.4ghz SSID was seen reliably on all my devices until the moment I changed the mode from router to access point. Now that the AC-3200 is in access point mode, over the last hour or so and a couple reboots I have never seen the 2.4ghz SSID again on any of my devices... I only see the two 5ghz SSIDs. And of course, I see all my neighbors 2.4ghz networks. For additional context, I am in the same room as the AC-3200.

Is it possible that changing the AC-3200 mode from router to access point triggers the unreliable (well, really completely useless) 2.4ghz?

Under wireless logs, what does it show as the channel for your 2.4ghz ap? Are you sharing SSID's? What other 2.4 ghz routers are in your network or area and is the channel the ac3200 is using have conflict with other devices?

A few people including myself have had problems with 2.4ghz on the new 384 code base. I was able to resolve mine by changing the 2.4ghz channels manually on my ac88.

No, I’m using 3200 as an AP and not a hiccup on 2.4Ghz.

You want to “Forget this network” and reconnect (type in the password) after you changed it to AP mode.

Tried it , no loss of 2.4 , all still seen .
