New Around Here
Hello everyone,

First of all, congrats on this amazing website!

I am acting as unofficial tech person for a very small office (basically meaning I am the only "sort of tech savvy person around") for a film festival. About one year ago, we had to buy a new HD for storage and I did not know anything about NAS drive but decided to go for a Lacie Network Space to give a shot. It changed our life and we now want to go for something better in the same area / price range.

I know this NAS is mostly home/family oriented and we are fine with this sort of solution, but I would like to know if I can find a product of this family with some slight improvements:

things that the Lacie Network Space has and that we use

- possibility to mount the drive on Mac OSX systems
- web access
- printer share
- usb drive backup
- easy setup

things that I am looking for and the Lacie Network Space does not have

- real granular access: I want to be able to give access to some directory within the shared directory to some users and prevent access to some others.
- increased speed (although I know that I won't have much in the kind of price range I am looking for)

I have read your guides and it helped to get an idea, but I am having a hard time finding reliable information about granular access.

Any advice/experience to share?

best,

Colin
