NAS Buying Advice Please

Hi

Just about to purchase my first NAS but with the mindfield of NASes available and features Im a bit confused to which one to look for I guess it would help if I said what I wanted it for so here goes:

1. Must be able to stream Video files to a PS3 as I plan to keep my movies on this device

2. Must have user level access permissions for my kids

3. Dual Drives so I can Mirror

4. Would be good if it works with Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery, but not essential

5. ITunes Server would be a bonus

6. Be able to use with SabNzb so that I dont need to have PC on all the time

7. Be Quiet

That covers my requirements, have looked through the forums and reviews and it looks like QNAP, Synology and NetGear seem to be the Manufacturers of choice with the members, but which model would you go for based on my requirements above.

Any advise would be greatfully received as I plan to purchase this week.

I am a big Netgear fan myself, have owned and used many here and sold them to my local clients - all still running strong.

The Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2 is very nice and I believe would do what you need (not sure about Sabnzb).

The Ultra 2+ is essentially the same as the Ultra 2 but has a dual core processor instead of single core. Nice for multiple users, media streaming, etc, but does therefore cost more.

Stay away from the ReadyNAS Duo - it's a very nice unit, but older, lower powered, different architecture.
