Hi all,
I am new here and I am looking for some advice. I currently have a Readynas DUO this has just gone through a faulty disk and in the recovery process I have lost some data. So I am now looking to buy a new NAS (4 bay) and run this on RAID5 and use the DUO with 2x1TB drives in RAID1 as a double backup.
The problem I have is what NAS to get next. I have been looking at the Readynas Ultra 4 (diskless) but it's a bit pricey, I have recently noticed the HP ProLiant MicroServer at just over £200. My main question is would this be any good for me, this is what I want from my NAS:
Scalable storage to store all types of media
The ability to hold my DVD collection and stream it to my PS3 and laptop (wired)
Would also like the ability to have some sort of picture album viewer that I can either use locally and/or over te internet.
The new NAS will be my primary storage NAS with the DUO providing redundancy for the most ciritial files.
I look forward to hearing your advise as I am still quite new to NAS's
Thanks.
