Need Help buying a wireless router!!!

I need help i was thinking about buying the Asus GT or RT 5300 but heard there is allot of problems with them. i need a good router i have 5 computers and 4 gaming systems plus all other devices and everyone here is always on their computer working n or on other devices so i need something good i was also thinking about the Netgear X10 but idk!!!! im just tired to of renting the modem from Comcast that ain't even good!!

The X10, GT5300, RT5300 are all overkill for your needs. Get an R7800, AC3100 or RT2600AC, which WiFi wise perform as good if not better and at a lower price. Infact an R7000 or AC68U might be most cost effective. The FQ_Codel based Streamboost QoS of the Qualcomm models is pretty effective.

Thanks for the info I'm going to look into those products. but price wise I don't care, I just wanted to get something new that on the long run I wouldn't need to upgrade for a long time.

OP, if money is not an issue then go for the Netgear R9000/X10. It works great out of the box, unlike the Asus GT-AC5300. It gives great wifi coverage and if you want advanced functionality on it, then simply install DD-WRT firmware on it...bobs your uncle

Why waste lot of money, when you can buy a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter + Ubiquiti Unifi AC AP for half the price. It get you more configurations options on the router and the whole network.

I agree with Pege63, that's a pretty good idea.

Take a look at pFsense if money is not an issue. An Intel x86 CPU based router will outperform any of the below models by a wide margin and you have a lot more configuration options in pFsense. You can get a decent one for the price of an R9000.

Also, don't always go by the higher model number, for example the R7800 and Synology RT2600AC have better 5Ghz performance/range than the R9000 even though all three use the same QCA9984 WiFi chip. (I was a tester for both R7800 & R9000). AC3100 also performs really well. The R9000 has a Quad Core CPU which would help with something specific to take advantage of the CPU like PLEX transcoding, but it runs incredibly hot under that type of load. However with the price difference with other models you're probably better off buying a seperate low end NAS along with another router.

So just look at the reviews and see what aspects you think you need rather than just the higher model number. I would suggest LEDE over DD-WRT with QCA99XX based units. SQM Cake QoS, the successor to Codel is also not available with DD-WRT. Another thing is hardware NAT is going to be committed for the IPQ8065/QCA8337 switch based units.
