New Around Here
I'm in the process of configuring my mac mini to run with Mediaportal for IPTV (wife accepts it next to our tv).
That part is almost running as I want, but ... the mac mini only has a 160Gb harddrive so I was thinking it is time for me to get some additional storage, recording HD material kinda fills up the harddrive too fast.
First on my mind was just to get an 2TB Iomega mini max external harddrive and connect it to the mac mini with firewire.
But a second thought would be to go the NAS way, so I can use it for backups as well (without manual work every so often)
So now I'm wondering what kind of NAS do I need (to determine how expensive this alternative is going to get)
Requirements in prioritized order
1) Have the potential to contain minimum 2Tb data and hopefully more
2) Be able to handle 3 HD media steams simultaneous (they are around 16Mb/s each) in any combination of read/write
3) Be on as low a budget as possible
4) be able to handle backups of documents/pictures/stuff automatically
5) be somewhat simple to setup
I think the requirement nr2 is the key to my question, so any advice would be appreciated
