Netflix app losing wifi connection chromecast

New Around Here
Hi there, I don't know if I'm in the right place with this question, but I do hope to find some answers here. I've been using asuswrt-merlin on my RT-AC68U for quite some time now, always been very happy with it. I'm now on version 380.66.

Since a few months though, I'm experiencing an annoying problem when using Netflix. When I start a movie with the netflix app all goes well. I connect with my chromecast using the cast-button in the app and the movie plays without any problem. But if I want, for example, to pause or stop the movie, all buttons appear to be grey. This is because the wifi connection between app and chromecast is lost and has to reconnect before I can give any command in the app. This behavior starts within minutes after starting a movie. Although I can't control the playback of the movie at that time, it does still play normally further; it's not disturbed or paused, stopped or whatever.

I tried resetting/reinstalling the app and also the chromecast. I also tried installing and using the app on different phones/tablets. The behavior is the same on all devices. So I started to think it could be related to (the configuration?) of my RT-AC68U.

Hope someone can help me out here, thanks in advance.

This is something I've noticed as well but with several other routers. Further investigation showed that it has something to do with a more recent firmware update on the Chromecast and not on the routers. Needless to say, Google are working on it. I think the most recent update fixed the problem for me as I don't have that issue any longer.

Edit: Also, are you running a VPN on the devices you cast from?

Thanks for replying. I do have the latest firmware update on my chromecast, so that did not help in my case... Maybe it IS that latest update causing the problem for me ;)

And no, no VPN here at the moment... Well, that's to say, I do have Adclear installed which uses it's own VPN, but I don't think it's related. I installed Adclear quite recently, and my problem started months before that...
