NETGEAR’s Arlo Outdoor Smart Home Security Light is a weather-resistant outdoor LED light that’s customizable and wire-free.

This expansion of NETGEAR's Arlo family moves it a step further toward the home security market, which is a leading revenue driver in the consumer Internet of Things (IoT) market.

Housed in a IP65-rated shell, the new light can be used outside and thanks to a cable-less design, finding a place to install the light is not limited by cable lengths or access to power sources.

The Arlo Outdoor Light has adjustable motion detection, and can work in conjunction with other lights, and/or trigger security cameras to start recording. The light also works with Amazon Alexa, powering on and off with a voice command, as well as IFTTT for more complicated setups.

Adjustments include the ability to change between flood and spot lighting and color output.

NETGEAR touts that the Arlo Outdoor Light comes with a long lasting rechargeable battery, but as an option, customers can use the Arlo Solar Panel to help keep the light charged and extend the life of its battery.

Pricing wasn’t available at the announcement, but the company will be start selling the Arlo Outdoor Smart Home Security Light in the first half of 2018.
