Hi,
Anyone knows about the CPU performance difference between the folowing two routers?
How so they perform when it comes to VPN Client speed?
Any references?
If I remember right, the OpenVPN process can't take advantage of more than 1 CPU core. So the Netgear having a QuadCore processor should not be an advantage here. Compared the Asus has a 1.8 GHz instead of 1,7 GHz CPU. But both are two different CPU vendors / types.
Advantage with the Netgear would be that it is DD-WRT compatible.
Anyone who has some CPU comparison values? Moste interested when it comes to OpenVPN client speed.

- Netgear P9000 (Nighthawk X10 - AD7200 Smart WiFi Router) => CPU: Annapurna Labs Alpine AL-514 (1.7 GHz, 4 cores)
- Asus RT-AC86U = CPU: Broadcom BCM4906 (1.8 GHz, 2 cores)
How so they perform when it comes to VPN Client speed?
Any references?
