New Around Here
hi,

I very new with this custom firmware thing. I have an AC66u with Merlin firmware. I installed Transmission following these guides:

https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Entware

https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Installing-Transmission-through-Entware

I did it, three times now. But I seem to lose all my installations every now and then. What am I doing wrong?

Should I just use Optware instead? I've read somewhere that Netware is more updated than Optware that's why I chose the former over the latter. Aside from Transmission, I also plan to install Network UPS Tools (NUT) and Rsync.

Btw, I installed netware and transmission in a 16gb generic flash drive formatted as ext2 with a partition for swap.

Thanks for advice.

Hi,

Code:
Starting with v3.0.0.4.270.25 a new script has been introduced to facilitate Entware installation

However when running
Code:
entware-setup.sh
you will get an error about not finding any ext3 partitions.

Create new ext3 partition on the USB stick following the instructions below:
http://rtn66u.blogspot.ro/2013/02/telnetting-in-to-format-to-usb-disk-to.html

You might encounter some problems about the USB being in use so just go to the web interface of the router -> Network Map -> select the usb drive and choose "Remove". A reboot of the router might be needed before following the steps above.

Once you executed the steps above successfully, you can proceed with installing entware and transmission as in the links below:
- follow the easy way f installing entware
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Entware
- install transmission
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Installing-Transmission-through-Entware

Best of luck.
