Sharing FYI to the community, looks like ASUS has been busy hardening their security -- as these aren't offering new features:
A new firmware update notice appeared yesterday in the mobile Router app for the AX86U Pro. Had to go into the web GUI to get the version and details. It doesn't appear to be published on the ASUS global or US website yet from what I just saw, but is available via the router app and web GUI. Basically the same description as the most recent AX3000 update (see below).
Haven't had the time to update to either yet, but seems like this should be a good security update if it doesn't cause any surprise side effects. Item #1's rosy language might also be interpreted that they improved memory protection, in addition to perhaps making it more efficient. (Thinking about things like buffer overflows and other memory exploits). Haven't looked at other models, but would guess these changes will probably get pushed to others given the shared codebase.
