New system - Configuration check

BadWolfe

New Around Here
Just built a new Asus Router/Mesh system replacing a 14 year old Linksys/Eero Mesh setup.
Followed all the information and advice and have installed:
AsusWrt Merlin on the AX86U Pro Router.
Up to date stock Asus Firmware on the both Mesh devices:
- AX86U - hardwired Mesh
- AX86U - Wireless Mesh

Question: Should I install AsusWrt Merlin on the Mesh nodes as well? I read someone who said there was no benefit over stock firmware for the nodes.

I also had a questions on Privacy/Data sharing on the above configuration. I did not sign up for anything online (such as an Asus Website account) but I did enable DDNS on the router and plan on enabling OpenVPN.
The Policy page seems to say that a "they" (is that Asus?) will see, collect and share data from this system. (see below statement).
Note: The main router is AsusWRT Merlin firmware

Not needed, AiMesh is closed source firmware component. No changes in Asuswrt-Merlin, the same as in Asuswrt.

They is Asus and Trend Micro in this case. Asuswrt uses 3rd party software for some of the functions listed above.
