New update questions

Please be more specific.

I have currently merlin 380.62 on RT-ac66u and i want to update the firmware to the latest 380.70.
I have commands added for custom ddns and other configs, so if i update it remotely will the commands go away?

also the reason for update is because in the log file i get "serial link appears to be disconnected" and then modem hangs up and connection terminated,, and then internet just cuts off and i need to restart my router to get internet back. I dont know if the update will help or if there is any other solution. It was working great for a while until recently started doing this.

What version of ac66u do you have revision B1 or A1 ?

Updating remotely is very problematic IMHO.

just the ac66u, ac1750.

I can update it with a pc through teamviewer because im not closeby the router.
Go to "Tools" and the "other settings" tab and look at cpu model and come back and tell me.

It will be arm7 or mipsel.

Ok so your options are to update to 380.70 and that ends support for that model or load Johns Fork a very stable version of Asuswrt-merlin available here, https://www.snbforums.com/threads/fork-asuswrt-merlin-374-43-lts-releases-v32e4.18914/ Either way a factory default reset is a possibility. The change from 380.6x to 380.70 fixes a few bugs and back ports some security issues.

Ok thank you. Either way I will need to search how to add the commands and which commands to add for the custom ddns. I was hoping the update wouldnt affect the commands.. I will update to 380.70, if it still gives me the network issue I will try Johns Fork.
Thanks for replying and helping me.

Sorry I wasn't quite clear enough. If you back up the jffs partition in the webui you won't lose your commands....:D
You can flash and then if your jffs got over written for some reason you could use the webui to re-import your jffs.

Thank you very much. I will do that.
