Hi everyone,
I have an Asus RT-N66U running Merlin firmware.
I came from 378.52 where DNS was working fine, meaning that if I SSH'd into the router, I could do 'ping google.com' or 'nslookup google.com' without problem, the IP would be resolved and pinging would start.
Because some OpenVPN problem I was having, I updated to 380.57 yesterday, while everything seemed to work fine at first glance, I noticed I had lost entware, so I tried to reinstall it, which didn't work.
After some digging I found out the reason entware was not installing, was because my routers OS had lost its DNS resolution capability, if now do 'ping google.com' it does not resolve the address.
Running 'nslookup google.com' shows its trying to use 127.0.0.1 as the default DNS server, which I have disabled. I have a seperate DNS server in my LAN which the router is configured to use and distribute to DHCP clients.
All DHCP clients are still getting the correct DNS address and are able to resolve names.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks!
