nordvpn configuration

Good morning, I have an Asus XT9 with the latest Asus firmware released. I have purchased a subscription to NordVPN and configured the router as shown in the manual. I created a profile, entered the username and password obtained on the NordVPN website in my credentials and downloaded the configuration file with the .ovpn extension and imported it to the router. I selected the device that I want the VPN to use, then I activated the VPN and it says connecting, initializing, please wait and it doesn't come out. Do you know what the problem is? Do I have to configure some parameter in the .ovpn file?

Import the ovpn file first, then add username/pass, select "Enable OpenVPN Client" = Yes. For "Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel" select either "Yes (all)" or "VPN Director" (as you require), then hit "Apply" at the bottom.
Options used are from my old RT-AX88U but your own options should be pretty close if not the same.

My xt9 is different, it uses fusion vpn and I import the .ovpn file and put the username and password but there is no option to enable openvpn client
