nslookup of local names never works

On the router's LAN/DHCP Server page, I have specified RT-N66U's Domain Name as familylan. On a workstation I run nslookup mypc or nslookup mypc.familylan (with the dns server being the router and mypc being the name of an existing workstation that appears on "network map" page), and the response is always "Non-existent domain". Isn't it supposed to resolve?

I think you mentioned you do, but under LAN>>DHCP do you have the dns server set to the ip address of the router (presumably 192.168.1.1)?

If you haven't already, reboot the router and computers...

I do, or I even specify the server to use in the command itself:
