I'm looking for a NAS to attach to an existing gigabit network. Its sole function will be to act as a server hosting the back end (data files) of an MS Access database. All other functions are already catered for.
It needs to be able to handle simultaneous incoming connections from 15 computers (not sure what that translates to in terms of actual connections when everyone is running searches, queries, etc.). These connections may not all be active at the same time, but sometimes they will be. I want to maximise speed, and eliminate dropouts or failed connections as far as possible.
Access itself can handle up to 20 incoming connections so that's not an issue. Our database is in good health and not causing any speed/connection problems, but its back end is currently on a Windows XP Pro PC which only allows a maximum of 10 other PCs to connect simultaneously. We don't need or want the expense and hassle of changing to a server based system and SQL- we will not be adding more computers.
Any suggestions for a suitable NAS?
