nvram commit problems

northwinds

Occasional Visitor
I'm having problems with setting some stuff in my AC87U's NVRAM

I either get this:

# nvram set vlan1ports="1 5 7*”

> nvram set vlan2ports="0 7u"

> nvram set vlan3ports=“2 7t"

usage: nvram [get name] [set name=value] [unset name] [show] [commit] [save] [restore] [erase] ...

or I manage to put all my settings in and then enter nvram commit but nothing happens.
I've closed terminal, come back in and done nvram show but no change.

I've tried rebooting and even factory defaulting but no change?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I don't know whether it's just the way you've typed it here, but the last character of the first line is not a quotation mark, it is a double-apostrophe (or right double quote mark).

If you are cutting and pasting the lines from somewhere try typing them by hand instead.

Wow! What very acute eyesight you have Colin!
Many thanks for that!
Cheers!

You're welcome :)

P.S. I've updated my original post to use what is regarded as the more correct names of those characters.
