Open ports

Hi,

I have installed the latest firmware (build 376.48_3) on my new RT-AC66U and everything is working good.

I have closed all unused services on the router, but I can't find why those printer related ports are open, ie 515, 9100 and 9998:

Anyone?

u2ec and lprng are the two main processes that handle printer sharing. There is no clean way to disable these however.

I killed the "lpd" process (ie kill -9 nnn) and this closed the ports 515 and 9100.
Could this do any bad things? If not, I can put this is some suitable startup script to be performed every boot.

Is it safe to kill u2ec the same way? What is the u2ec thing?

u2ec stands for "USB to EC (parallel port)".

I assume it should be safe, but I have never really looked at that portion of the code, so you will have to test it.
