OpenVPN client and server failing - WANduck?

plodge

New Around Here
I've had a pretty stable router for some time, the R66U. I don't use the Wifi, that's turned off as I have Unify, so I had no need to upgrade the router. I see now the Merlin updates won't be forthcoming any longer for this model.

Then a few months ago I switched to a new internet provider, and soon started getting the DHCP errors. I found references to WANduck and put in a script a few days ago, which appears to have sorted it. Except now both the OpenVPN client and server now have stopped functioning with :

Apr 8 22:10:17 rc_service: httpd 270:notify_rc start_vpnclient1
Apr 8 22:10:17 openvpn[1961]: Options error: You must define CA file (--ca) or CA path (--capath)
Apr 8 22:10:17 openvpn[1961]: Use --help for more information.

Given I had to create a JFFS partition to create the WANduck, any chance that's what's gone and borked the VPN? I've tried turning that off, and the 30 second powerdown, but nothing. Next steps would be a total factory reset and start again, but curious if there's any experience here with this before I go down that route.

Thanks everyone!

Your configuration is missing the Certificate Authority.

thats what I find odd. The vpn server is my own creation, and the vpn client is via a vpn provider. Therefore it’s ‘lost’ both? At the same time?

If the JFFS content was lost, that's possible.

OK, so by enabling custom scripts the JFFS partition was wiped? I'll rebuild, but this time go and copy that partition (if I can). I'm assuming I can do both.

Thanks, @RMerlin!

No. But a firmware upgrade can potentially do that, especially if coming from a much older version.

I did the last firmware update months ago, it's been working since then. I did choose the 'wipe jffs partition' at the same time as enabling scripts. What we're saying is the configs are stored there, I didn't know that, so clearly that's what's gone and wiped it. Thanks.
