Hi all,
I have a RT-AC66U running asuswrt-merlin and I am trying to expose some services on my LAN through VPN.
I currently have Samba, MySQL and DLNA running on a Ubuntu server, which is connected to the router through wired connection and having a static 192.168.1.x address. I also turned on OpenVPN server so I can access my LAN from internet safely. Devices usually get a 10.8.0.x address by default setup. Some of the services such as DLNA and NETBIOS only works on the same subnet, so I can not access these from VPN. Then I thought if I alias the server NIC to give it an address in the same subnet(10.8.0.x) it will solve the issue.
However, when I tried that, the alias IP was not able to communicate with that subnet. I can not ping any IP on that subnet, including the TUN device IP. I guess it may have something to do with iptables or VLAN settings. But I have very little knowledge about these so don't even know how to start troubleshooting.
Can anybody please help me or let me know if I am in the right direction?
Thanks a lot!
