New Around Here
1.

im having a discusion with someone about wireless

we'll keep it to n in the 20hz 2.4 range

after reading stuff and articles here, i have read about the same channel and the CSMA/CA mechanism etc and adjacent channels

he is insitent that what experts say isnt real world reality and just choose best one for u.

i said that could be selfish and bad manners for eg

so lets say 2 people using wireless copying a gig file across wireless at same time next door to each other in modern flats

im making an argument not to be on 13 for eg if someone is on 11

(forget other channels for mo lets say they are crowded ), as this would be seen as more noisy to both of you than if on 11 with the other person where csma/ca will work more effiecently

what are you opinions or real world testing

does csma/ca work better if on same channel rather than 2 away?

will it be worse being on 13, as most think its further away so must be better

is this the case?

many thanks

2. on reading stuff in ref to uk some argure that we can use 1, 5, 9, 11 as mechanism will cope and will have v min effect

WiFi deployments in the UK it is sufficient to adopt the
convention of using the four non-overlapping channels (in fact, in many situations, three channels are
enough to achieve a non-overlapping topology, so an even greater buffer between adjacent cells can be
achieved). However, there are scenarios when even four channels are insufficient:
• in higher density deployments
• across multiple floors of a building
• where external interference precludes the use of one or more of the ‘usual’ channels.
In these circumstances it may prove possible to use partially-overlapping channels at the price of only
minimal overhead in terms of traffic collisions

so if this is the case and say all people same strength 2 people on ch1 and 3 on ch6 (forget rest for now)

ch4 maybe be a good choice or stay on ch1?

thanks again hope some replires :)
