Padavan's Custom Firmware

I needed to do some bench testing so I pulled out an old rt-n56u and did an initial setup with the stock firmware. All was going well but I wanted to see the effect of the Padavan firmware and the Master Browser setting in an environment with WIN 7 & WIN 10 along with some old and new synology NAS devices. I was testing the network browsing when SMB 1 is completely disabled on my PC's.

Unfortunately the Master Browser didn't give me what I was looking for but it was worth the test. I will leave the firmware as is but I clearly noticed that without a QOS feature in the firmware the bufferbloat is super high. On the stock firmware a simple QOS setting (95% of the full bandwidth up/down) gave "A" rating bufferbloat.

I'm definitely not a Linux guy but I do have colleagues that are yet I really don't see how to add the QOS feature set to the firmware. Is it available? OR is their a precompiled image with the QOS in it?

Thanks in Advance and Happy New Year to All

Hi, I am new to Padavan and I am using Asus RT-N56U. I have configured PPTP VPN client using the Web GUI but I would like it to auto start everytime I reboot the router, may I know if there is a way to do it? Like configure in the "Run After Router Started" script? Need help here as I do not know how to write the script too.

Hi guys, im new to padavan, i like the fw a lot.
I would like to know if there is a way to block IP/23 & 24 in the firewall settings.
For example,

iptables -A INPUT -s IP/24 -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -s IP/23 -j DROP

Thank you in advance.

Firmware is "old" by now, and seems to be in limited maintenance mode at bitbucket.

I suggest you'll have better luck trying to find your answer with Google. Good luck!

Hi, I have already gone thorugh that Forum, I have tried nano version first but asus rejecting it.
Also tried after downgrading my official firmware to a version of 2018. And flashing the padavan using asus recovery tool, still rejects, I need serious help.

I want to move to padavan as the router has some disconnection issues which is common for the router.

Thank you for the nice summary, have been looking for a updated firmware, I do see a L-100 on dirkp78's link.

Looking at the devs commits, there was a burst of activities from end 2018 to early 2019. Recently all seems to have quiet down. Hopefully more dev will continue to keep Padavan firmware up to date.
