Hi !
I'm considering buying 2 sets of PoE (Injector + Splitter). Unfortunatelly the datasheets of those devices often lack important information supporting the right decision. Sometimes don't even mention if they are compatible 802.3af or 802.3at. Other time they are not saying if they can pass Gigabit Ethernet or Fast Ethernet only. How likely is that using such (layer 1) device to experience reduced thrughput or an increase in transmission errors, latency, etc.
Besides, owing possibly to the economy of scale rules, they are definitlelly not cheap, at least for what I expect them to cost, especially when compatible with Gigabit Ethernet. I haven't seen anywhere a test of such devices, would be great if SmallNetBuilder could fill this void.

PoE devices

Thank you for the quick reaction.

I have a (rather) long list but the following devices are on top of it:

1. SonicWALL PoE Injector 802.3af Gigabit N 01-SSC-5544
2. Powerdsine Active Splitter High-PoE 12V DC PD-AS-701/12
3. Allied Telesys AT-610G PoE injector AT-6101G-50
4. Axis PoE Midspan 1 port 0226-002, 5700-381 and splitter 5008-001
5. Vivotek Poe-Kit Injector+Splitter EU 9000001910G
6. APC POE Injector NBAC0303
7. Lancom Systems GE PoE Injector LS61554

I principle I need first one set to work with Gigabit Ethernet, while for another set FastEthernet is sufficient for now, since the PoE with Gigabit Ethernet is rather expensive and I already happen to have a TP-Link TL-POE10R, I'm also considering TL-POE150S (802.3af compliant, Fast Ethernet Only) or, at the same price as the TP link injector, TL-POE200, again Fast Ethernet Only but non 802.3af compliant (TP-Link proprietary). - Not fond on non-compliant solutions altough, by using unused pairs in FastEthernet, might have a better efficiency than a compliant one.
